Thermal Conductivity Testing of Plastics
Thermally conductive plastics, with excellent mechanical, heat dissipation, and insulation properties, are widely used in lamp heat dissipation, power battery thermal management, and electronic component shells.
Accurate thermal conductivity detection of plastics is vital for thermal management design. The TC3000 series from Xi’an Xiaxi Electronic Technology excels in testing these materials.
l The
transient method features fast detection speed and high detection accuracy
The TC3000 series thermal conductivity meters use the transient hot wire method (ASTM D5930 standard compliant) for fast testing. A typical measurement usually takes only a few minutes, directly obtaining the thermal conductivity value without requiring conversion from other physical quantities.
The instrument offers high measurement accuracy with ±3% and a resolution of 0.0005 W/(m•K) across the entire measurement range. It can precisely measure the changes in thermal conductivity of plastics with different formulations, providing a reliable basis for formula optimization.
l Low
sample size requirements, enabling non-destructive testing of plastics in
various forms
The TC3000 series thermal conductivity meters require a minimum sample size of only 25mm and have no specific requirements for sample morphology, eliminating the need for special sample preparation. They support the full-process testing of plastic materials, ranging from masterbatch (powder form), injection-molded sheets (≤0.5mm), irregularly shaped parts, to finished components.
For molded plastics that are difficult to prepare samples, the TC3000S model with a single-sided probe design can be used. During testing, the sensor is simply placed directly onto the surface of the plastic component. The test software automatically collects the data, enabling in-situ, non-destructive measurement and avoiding measurement result deviations caused by destructive sampling.
l High degree of intelligence, saving time costs
The TC3000 series offer fast tests (a few minutes), automatic temperature control (-30~200°C), and intelligent software. This software enables continuous, multi-temperature measurements and unattended batch testing, significantly reducing labor costs.
The TC3000 series thermal conductivity meters have a wide measurement range. A single unit can test all types of plastic materials, from insulating foam plastics (0.03 W/(m·K)) to highly filled thermally conductive engineering plastics (>10 W/(m·K)), without the need to replace the probe. This saves operational costs.
The TC3000 series, characterized by fast detection speed, high measurement accuracy and advanced intelligence, delivers an efficient and precise one-stop testing solution for the research and development, production and quality control of thermally conductive plastics.
